Diet Helps Healing

When Jean was having trouble healing her back with Prolotherapy, we recommended Diet Typing to ensure that her body is able to support the immune response that Prolotherapy was stimulating. She was about 70% better than when she had started Prolotherapy treatments, but she was ready to get to 100% pain free living.
Jean had Diet Typing and met with the nutritionist on the same day. She told the nutritionist that she had gained 8-10 pounds since her back injury because it prevented her from exercising. She also had low energy and had trouble getting through the day at work she relied on one or two Diet Cokes a day to get her through. She also mentioned that she was always cold, loved the heat of the summer, and never sweated. These last three bits of information made us suspect that Jean would for sure have acidic blood pH. When her results came back, we saw that we were right! Not only was she acidic, but she also was a fast oxidizer, meaning Jean would need more protein and fat she was prescribed the Otter Diet.
Jeans diet of cereal, skim milk, complex carbs, fruit, and, of course, diet coke, was about to change. Although she previously ate a moderate amount of protein, she would have to make the shift to a high protein, high fat diet.
When she returned for another Prolotherapy treatment she also met with the nutritionist. After reviewing her food diary it was clear that Jean had made a big effort in increasing her protein intake. She was not nearly as cold as she used to be and her knee and shoulder were almost 100% pain free. Her back was also improving and was about 50% pain free. She was also experiencing increased energy during the day.
Jean was from a small town so she did not have access to organic foods, so unfortunately she was not able to consistently consume organic food, but she was able to cook more from scratch and enjoy the meals she was eating. She still had not given up her Diet Coke, so that was her next goal to get rid of this chemical laden drink! Overall we were proud of Jean for the changes that she made its not always easy giving up the high carbohydrate diet most people consume, but she was able to break the barrier. Continuing on the Otter Diet and eating as much fresh food as possible was sure to support the healing of the rest of her joint pain.
