PROLOTHERAPY IS A GREAT LONG TERM INVESTMENT

Imagine you go to a financial planner and she says "I want you to invest all of your spare income into this stock and I can guarantee an immediate 20% on the investment." The temptation maybe to say "sign me up." This response would be very premature because you would need to ask what's the long-term outcome? The financial planner may "hem and haw" and not want to tell you.

"Concentrate on the here and now. With this investment I can guarantee you a 20% return immediately. You will feel great and your first $10,000 will grow into $12,000. I guarantee it." Many people would jump on it. If you pushed her to give you more information you may not like what she says. "In the long term, most likely this stock will crash and you will loose everything you have." You might respond, "Are you crazy why would I risk my money like that. I am not in it for the short term, I am in for the long term. I am not buying that stock, you're crazy!"

The investment story above actually occurred for a lot of people who invested in dotcom stocks because they had fast growth. In the end many people lost everything. I write this story because this is what people do in regard to their pain. They go for the fast quick solution which typically involves an anti-inflammatory medication either taken by mouth or injected. They immediately feel better (20% investment) but don't ask the doctor what the long term consequences are. If the doctor is really knowledgeable about the long term effects of NSAIDs (anti-inflammatories) or injected steroids he/she would tell you that they:

Accelerate the degenerative process
Weaken connective tissues
Necessitate using stronger NSAIDs in the future to control the pain
Don't repair the painful area
Decrease the strength of cartilage
Increase the likelihood of needing a joint replacement

Anyone who is told you these are the long term consequences of NSAIDs and injected steroids would tell a doctor, "Are you crazy! I am not going to let you give me those medications. Why would anyone? I am out of here!"

In our opinion, Prolotherapy is the best long term investment for someone with pain. It is the one that has the best potential to cure most chronic painful conditions. In most studies and with doctors would do a lot of Prolotherapy the cure rate is between 75% - 82%. For the person with chronic pain these odds are good. Prolotherapy stimulates the body to repair painful areas. This makes it a great long term investment.
